What is neuromuscular reeducation?
Neuromuscular reeducation is the process of retraining your neuromuscular system to function at a more optimal level.
Over time or due to injury, the communication between your muscles and your nerves can weaken or be disrupted. This often leads to the altering of your daily movement patterns such as walking, running, and going up or down stairs.
The goal of our neuromuscular reeducation program is to strengthen the communication between the muscles and nerves to get you moving the way you are accustomed to through a combination of balance, strength, and flexibility training using our state-of-the-art equipment.
What type of equipment is used in our neuromuscular reeducation program?
The AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill is a medical device approved by the FDA that uses Differential Air Pressure (DAP) technology, originally developed by NASA. This technology has revolutionized rehabilitation and training and is used for:
- Weight reduction
- Aerobic training
- Treatment of neurological conditions
- Rehabilitation of lower extremity injuries
- General training to combat the diseases of aging
The AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill surrounds you with a cushion of air that provides a safe environment to promote stability in a way that could not normally be achieved on a standard treadmill. This cushion of air gently lifts you and reduces your weight by up to 80 percent, which helps to relieve the pain and pressure on the knees, ankles, and lower back. This allows you to perform natural body movements and exercise with full range of motion without the fear of falling.
The SpineForce machine is the first technology designed to pinpoint and tone the deep spinal musculature of the back. The deep spinal musculature is the most important, yet most neglected part of the human body. These muscles are responsible for all bodily movement. In our program, the SpineForce machine is used to help you achieve better balance and muscle coordination through a variety of strength and coordination exercises. The device is easy to use and safe for all levels of the balanced impaired. The SpineForce machine can also provide treatment for low back pain, sports injury rehabilitation, strengthening and conditioning, and aid in preventing future back injury.
Does my insurance cover this neuromuscular reeducation program?
Due to the unique nature of our neuromuscular reeducation program and the equipment used, we do not take medical insurance. We offer this service as an adjunct to traditional therapy and to “think outside of the box” in regards to approaching patients with balance and gait difficulties. The rates are listed below and are due at the time of service.
